Southern Company is one of the top electricity producers in the United States. President Obama gave Southern Company a loan to initiate the building of two new nuclear reactors in Burke, Georgia. When this takes place it will be the first nuclear plant built in 30 years. Having a more nuclear power in the U.S. will limit the use of foreign oil and relying on outward sources to survive. The U.S. would become more independent. This would also provide opportunities and supply power for 1.4 million people for each reactor.
Nuclear reactors haven’t been built for 30 years due to environmentalist issues and other reasons, however now, Obama is taking action.
