Tyson Foods Inc. (TSN) – Coming to the Consumers

by lydia on January 29, 2010

Tyson Foods Incorporation specializes in frozen entrees, for individuals as well as for the family. Tyson is located in Iowa, however not too many costumers are buying from the area. The main area of their customer base is in the southern region of the states. Tyson plans to relocate in Texas and  Tennessee, to meet the growing needs of consumers in the south. Tyson is also decreasing 480 of the 1,300 jobs at Tyson Foods in Iowa. The reason for downsizing is because the demand for frozen meats and entrees is lower than before. Tyson’s main customers are small restaurants, fast food places, grocery stores, as well as prisons; there hasn’t been as high of a demand for meat.

Pork is expected to be the meat of preference this year with an increase of 1% to 2% after a decline of 2% in 2009, and chicken is to be close behind with a 1% to 2% increase in comparison to a 1.7% gain in 2009.
