Walgreen Company’s sales actually decreased this quarter, with a 1.2 percent fall. The analyst’s predictions were that it would increase 3.2 percent in sales. However, this prediction was incorrect, Walgreen suggested it was something to do with generic over-the-counter drugs, which are less costly than the main brands. There was also not a big flu epidemic as there was last year. Many people are reducing their runs to the pharmacy because of the expense and lack of jobs available. All these instances contribute to the reason why Walgreen’s sales didn’t increase this quarter.
